Congresswoman Bynum Rejects Extremism in Military Funding Bill

September 10, 2025

Today, Congresswoman Janelle Bynum (OR-05) voted against H.R. 3838, the Fiscal Year 2026 National Defense Authorization Act. The bill, put forth by House Republicans, included several extreme amendments which threaten access to reproductive health care and target women and LGBTQ servicemembers.

“While I strongly support our military and our servicemembers, this bill puts politics over our national security,” said Rep. Bynum. “Republicans have taken what has traditionally been a bipartisan priority to protect our country and honor our troops and inserted ‘poison pills’ that undermine access to health care, restrict free speech, and harm the environment. That doesn’t fly with me. Our servicemembers deserve better.”
