April 10, 2025
“On the heels of tanking our economy, President Trump and Republicans are trying to push through a budget that would make things worse.”
Washington, DC – Today, Congresswoman Janelle Bynum (OR-05) released the following statement after voting against the Senate amended version of the Budget Proposal. In February, she also voted against H.Con.Res.14, the House Budget Proposal.
“This is once again a trash budget that hurts Oregonians and I’m voting no. On the heels of tanking our economy, President Trump and Republicans are trying to push through a bill that makes things worse. The American people deserve better.”
Background
The proposal would:
- Cut Medicaid by at least $880 billion, SNAP by over $200 billion, and education and school meal programs by around $100 billion;
- Provide $7 trillion in tax breaks and loopholes to big corporations;
- And increase the debt by over $14 trillion over the decade.
