Congresswoman Bynum Blasts Trump’s Threat of National Guard Deployment in Portland

Oregon City, OR – Today, Congresswoman Janelle Bynum (D-OR) spoke out after President Donald Trump’s comments about National Guard deployment and the City of Portland. Earlier this evening, the President stated he decided where he’d be deploying the National Guard next. In the same press conference, he said “we’ll be able to stop that very easily” in reference to the ongoing protests in Portland and referred to living in the city as “living in hell.”
"This ain’t our first rodeo – the last time Trump sent the National Guard here, we ran him out of town. If you think you’ll come here and take away our free speech, you’ve got another thing coming.
“The people you want to send aren’t toy soldiers and terrorizing Americans isn’t what they signed up for. Quit wasting their time and the country’s money to play cops and robbers for your ego. Focus on your failing economic policies that are hurting Americans and raising our costs. We got us."
