Congresswoman Bynum Blasts Trump Admin for Funding Freeze Uncertainty
Rep. Bynum: “This is irresponsible, unproductive, and exactly what Americans have said they want to see less of in Washington.”
Washington, DC – Today, Congresswoman Janelle Bynum (OR-05) released the following statement following the Trump Administration’s order to federal agencies to freeze grant and loan payments beginning this afternoon:
“This decision is threatening to impact Oregonian‘s ability to pay for groceries, to pay their rent, to pay for their education, and to pay other can’t-skip bills in our households. The Trump Administration is playing political games with people’s livelihoods.
“There’s uncertainty about which programs will and will not be impacted and which bills Americans will and will not be able to pay. This is irresponsible, unproductive, and exactly what Americans have said they want to see less of in Washington.
“I’m working to get accurate information about this stunt as quickly as possible, and above all, to ensure Oregonians maintain access to the essential services they need. I encourage everyone to reach out to me and my office so we can sort through the impact this is having on our community.”
