Bynum Introduces Bipartisan Bill to Designate May as National Electrical Safety Month

Washington, DC – Today, Congresswoman Janelle Bynum (D-OR-05) and Congressman Rob Bresnahan (R-PA-08) introduced a resolution to designate May 2025 as National Electrical Safety Month. Specifically, it highlights National Electrical Safety Month as an opportunity to educate the public about the important steps that prevent serious injuries, fatalities, and property damage. By understanding and adhering to basic electrical safety principles, people can minimize the risks in their homes, workplaces, and during storms and natural disasters.

"As an electrical engineer, I know firsthand how important it is to practice good electrical safety,” said Rep. Bynum.“That’s why I’m proud to introduce the Electrical Safety Month Resolution. Increasing awareness and having open conversations around electric safety helps save lives, reduce risk to homes and businesses, and keep our families safer."

“As a previous electrical contractor myself, I realize how critical electrical safety is — not just on job sites, but in our homes, schools, and workplaces,” said Rep. Bresnahan. “During National Electrical Safety Month, I’m proud to join my colleague, Rep.
