Bynum Hosts Roundtable with Local Labor Groups

July 16, 2025

Oregon City, OR – Today, Rep. Janelle Bynum (OR-05) hosted a roundtable conversation with local labor leaders to hear about issues they have faced due to federal funding cuts and  challenges they are anticipating following the passage of President Trump’s budget. Rep. Bynum voted against the budget twice, calling it “trash” for the ways it hurts her constituents.

“The impacts of this legislation will be felt in all corners of my district and in all sectors of the workforce, and it is important to me to hear directly from local leaders about how they are being affected,” said Rep. Bynum. “At a time of rising costs, we should be investing in job creation, workers, and our local economies, not passing legislation that betrays our unions, kicks people off of healthcare, and wipes out thousands of jobs. The Republicans’ budget takes money out of the pockets of those who keep our country running and instead gives it to the billionaire class – it’s trash.”

This is the 12th roundtable Rep. Bynum has hosted to hear Oregonians’ stories and provide updates on her work in Congress, and the fourth specifically with labor leaders.

Attendees from the roundtable included:

  • Johnny Earl – SEIU 503
  • Reyna Lopez – PCUN
  • Bill Martin – APWU
  • Tom Pansky – NARFE
  • Hannah Winchester – OFNHP AFT-5017
  • Sarah Wofford – Oregon School Employees Association
